Archbishop Murphy rolls over Cascade Christian

EVERETT – Archbishop Murphy standout running back Jevon Butler rushed for 186 yards and scored four touchdowns en route to a Wildcats’ 41-22 non-league victory over Cascade Christian Saturday in Everett.

After giving up an opening kickoff return for 85 yards to Cascade Christian’s Brian Dahl, the Archbishop Murphy (0-0 in league, 4-0) scored 28 unanswered points.

Butler scored three of his four touchdowns on runs of 42, 25 and 3 yards during the team’s 28-point rally. Stan Smith rushed 21 yards for a touchdown as Archbishop Murphy built a 28-7 lead through the first three quarters.

Ben Waiss and Butler each scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to cap off the rout. Waiss plunged in from a yard out and Butler scored from 25 yards. The Wildcats finished with 346 yards on the ground and just eight yards through the air. Defensively, Archbishop Murphy surrendered 43 rushing yards and 120 passing.

Eisenhower 37, South Kitsap 55, Snohomish 72, University 99, Woodinville 110: Snohomish’s Danny Weiser finished 18th in his division and Andrew Glebe came in fifth in his flight to lead the Panthers to third place in the 52-team, 3.1-mile Bellevue Invitational.

Helmer finished in 15:41 and Knox completed the 3.1-mile course in 15:49. Edmonds-Woodway finished in third place behind second-place finisher Sehome. Duncan Hendrick, who finished fifth with a time of 16:31, helped Meadowdale finish eighth overall.

Snohomish 33, South Kitsap 66, University 85, Stanwood 97, Squalicum 102: Amanda Stopa’s fifth-place finish helped lead Snohomish to a victory in the 3.1-mile Bellevue Invitational. Ashley Meyer finished in the top 20 with a time of 19:16 and Alyssa Modrell, running in the second flight, won her division in 18:44. Kim Holland and Stephanie Persson each won their respective flight for the Panther, who were without their top runner Lucy Miller who was taking a college prep exam.
