Boys basketball: Marcus Guffey, a senior forward for the Cascade Bruins, scored a season-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 48-43 winner-to-state district playoff victory over Edmonds-Woodway. He scored nine points in a 77-43 first-round win over Shorewood.
Girls basketball: Kristina Schumacher, a senior guard for the Lake Stevens Vikings, scored 18 points and had eight rebounds and five steals in a 56-42 winner-to-state district playoff victory over Jackson. She also scored 13 points in a 65-45 first-round win over Edmonds-Woodway.
