The junior center scored a career-high 26 points and tied her school record with 19 rebounds in a 51-44 victory over Lynnwood.
Coate is averaging in double figures in both points and rebounds this season (16.1 and 13.1, respectively). She also leads the Wildcats in steals and assists.
Against Lynnwood she was 14-for-16 from the free throw line.
“Free throws are a big factor for her,” said coach Bill Kelley, who added that Coate is shooting between 75 and 80 percent from the line this season. “Teams have a tough time guarding her. She had eight free throw attempts in the fourth quarter and made seven.
“You have to guard her on the perimeter and she drives well, so it’s hard for one person to stop her.”
Kelley said Coate is ambidexterous, which combined with her height, gives her a great advantage over defenders.
