The senior guard poured in 34 points on 13 of 17 shooting in Cascade’s 65-56 victory over Shorecrest Wednesday. The Santa Clara-bound Huss had five assists and six rebounds.
Huss added 21 points and five assists Friday in the Bruins’ 59-55 win at Mountlake Terrace.
The 5-foot-8 guard, who has an extremely quick release and nearly unlimited range on her jump shot, hit six 3-point baskets combined in the two victories.
“She has unlimited, NBA-type range on her 3-point shot,” Cascade coach Dave Roberts said. “And this year she’s getting a lot of her points by going to the basket.
Though her last week stood out when compared to mere mortals, it was just a ho-hum week for Huss. She has averaged 28.2, 5 assists and 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals while leading Cascade to a 6-0 record.
“Her teammates have improved a lot this year, and that’s helped make her better,” Roberts said. “She’s getting more assists because her teammates are making shots when she gets them the ball.”

The senior forward came off the bench to score 27 points and pull down 17 rebounds in Stanwood’s 74-61 victory over Western Conference 3A rival Everett Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-3 Ellingson started Friday against Lynnwood and contributed 29 points and 11 rebounds in just three quarters of Stanwood’s 67-54 triumph.
Stanwood coach Nate DuChesne said he knew Ellingson was capable of such outbursts if foul trouble could be avoided.
“I had a feeling early in the season that he would open some people’s eyes,” DuChesne said. “We see him every day in practice, and we know what he can do. We knew that if he could keep himself out of foul trouble that he could be very successful.”
Ellingson’s week of dominance came as a surprise to some people outside of the team. Point guard Ryan Appleby and forward Marcus Steele often get the attention, but for one week, it was Ellingson’s team.
“It’s nice to have a third player who can get us 20 points,” DuChesne said. “Josh is only 6-3, but he’s a very quick jumper. There’s incentive to go get the offensive rebound, because he knows he can score if he gets it.”
