There’s nothing like fun at the old ballpark, even when you’re playing in the game.
As part of Fan Appreciation Night, the Mariners’ grounds crew spelled out “THANKS” in huge block letters behind second base. Rangers shortstop Omar Vizquel and second baseman Ian Kinsler then did some crafty editing early in the game.
Vizquel clawed at the dirt and wiped out the “T” while Kinsler did the same with the “S”. What it left apparently was “HANK” which was either a tribute to Rangers teammate Blalock or country singer Williams. Or maybe Hall of Fame slugger Aaron. Or maybe former KC Chiefs coach Stram.
Whatever, it made for a cute photo, which you can see at the right (OK the angle isn’t great and I shot it with my phone, but if you hit the “click to enlarge” button you just might make out Vizquel’s and Kinser’s nifty footwork).
