Jon Brockman, a junior forward on the University of Washington men’s basketball team, has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 17-23, commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.
Brockman, a junior from Snohomish, averaged 22.5 points and 11 rebounds in the Huskies’ wins over Portland State and Cal State Northridge.
Brockman converted 11 of 13 shots from the field in an 84-65 victory over Portland State on Dec. 18 and led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Four days later, he collected a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Huskies to an 80-66 win over Cal State Northridge.
Brockman, who led all Pac-10 players last season in rebounding and double-doubles, is averaging a double-double (18.9 points and 10.9 rebounds) per game.
This is the third time Brockman has received the Pac-10’s weekly award and his second this season. He earned player-of-the-week honors on Nov. 20. Brockman also was recognized in February 2007.
