VANCOUVER, B.C. — Nicholas Baligod hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning to rally Vancouver to a 13-9 victory over Everett on Saturday night.

The AquaSox (16-9 second half, 32-31 overall) blew a 9-6 lead that they took into the bottom of the ninth inning at Scotiabank Field.

Jonathan Jones’ single in the bottom of the ninth scored Matt Newman and Garrett Maines for Vancouver (8-17, 32-31) to pare Everett’s lead to 9-8. The game was pushed into extra innings after Jonathon Berti scored the tying run when Balbino Fuenmayor grounded into a force out.

In the 10th with Andrew Burns and Berti already on, Everett reliever Max Krakowiak hit Jonathon Jones with a pitch to load the bases. Baligod then stepped up to plate, hit a grand slam and ended the game.

After opening the game with a ground rule double, Marcus Littlewood scored Everett’s first run on Nathan Melendres’ triple to left field. Mario Yepez then singled, scoring Melendres, and after a balk, Jabari Blash single, a Blash stolen base and a wild pitch by Vancouver’s Zack Breault, Yepez came home to put the Sox up 3-0.

In the bottom of the first, the Canadians managed two runs to close the gap to just a run, when Kevin Patterson hit a two-run home run to right field that scored Jonathan Jones from first to close the Everett lead to just a run.

Littlewood scored for Everett again in the second inning on a left-field single by Blash, tallied his third run on Blash’s fourth-inning RBI groundout and his fourth in the top of the sixth inning on Ramon Morla’s groundout.

Everett added two more runs in the sixth and one in the eighth and Vancouver tacked on a run in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Littlewood had just one hit in the game, a double, and was walked four times by three Vancouver pitchers who combined for nine walks in the game.
