VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canadians made quick work of the Everett AquaSox Thursday night with a 3-0 Northwest League West Division victory at Nat Bailey Stadium.

After shutting out the Canadians Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak with strong pitching, Everett (10-8) was the victim of that same dominate pitching effort Thursday night by Vancouver.

Canadians pitchers Scott Deal, Matthew Manship and Scott Moore combined to scatter eight hits while shutting out the Frogs, and Vancouver improved to 12-6 to maintain its hold on second place in the West Divsion, two games behind Salem-Keizer (14-4), a 4-3 victor over Eugene Thursday.

Deal (4-0) is the first pitcher to win four games in the Northwest League.

Vancouver scored all of its runs with two outs starting in the second inning on an infield RBI-single off the bat of Alex Valdez.

The Canadians added another run in the third when Jacob Smith hit a two-out RBI-single scoring Jermaine Affronti and capped off the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when Valdez scored on a Larry Cobb RBI-single with two outs.

Everett left 10 men on base and squandered its best chance to score in the top of the eighth inning. With runners on second and third base and one out, Frogs’ first baseman Joseph White was gunned down at home plate on a fielders’ choice by Vancouver third baseman Valdez for the second out of the inning and Jose Graterol struck out to end the threat.

One bright spot that Everett can build on was its second consecutive strong outing from its bullpen, Jose Suriel, Rollie Gibson and Andrew Fiorenza pitched 42/3 shutout innings, allowing no hits, only one walk and struck out two.
