Cascade wins final relay race to pull out a four-point victory over M-P

MARYSVILLE – A match-up between the third-place Cascade girls swimming team and the fourth-place Marysville-Pilchuck went down to the wire.

Cascade pulled out the 93.5-89.5 victory, despite not competing in diving, by winning the final race of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of four minutes, 8.65 seconds.

Brittney Thompson led the Bruins, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and contributing to two relay victories: the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Thompson’s time of 1:08.48 in the breaststroke was a personal record and bettered her previous state qualifying time by two seconds.

Lake Stevens 127, Stanwood 49: The Vikings Kelly Conrad won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of two minutes, 02.02 seconds. Conrad also contributed to wins in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Jackson 113, Edmonds-Woodway 57: Angie Wang, Amber Pleasant and Emily Rogers won two individual races and swam on two winning relay teams to lead Jackson to the Wesco South win. Rogers won back-to-back races: the 100-yard backstroke and the 100 breaststroke.
