Cascade’s Hooks shines

EVERETT – Cascade thrower Whitney Hooks won the discus and threw the shot 48 feet, 5 inches to lead the Bruins to the team championship in the Everett School District girls track meet Friday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Cascade scored 82 points to Jackson’s 74 and Everett’s 32.

Hook’s put was the longest in the state this season, improving her own mark by 2 feet, and it equaled the second-best mark in the nation, according to the May issue of Track and Field magazine said Cascade coach Bill Stengele.

Cascade’s Angelica Lizak won the 100-meter hurdles and the 200 and ran on two winning relay teams. Teammate Katie Casillas won the long jump and ran on two winning relay squads.

Boys track

Everett School District meet: Everett won the Everett School District boys track meet for the second year in a row Friday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Hurdler Clay Kincaid won both of his races and Spencer Warfield captured the discus and shot put for the Seagulls, who scored 74 points to Cascade’s 64 and Jackson’s 41.

Jackson’s Jeff Helmer won both distrance races. His time of 4 minutes, 16.5 seconds in the 1,600-meter run is his best this season and the sixth best in the state, according to the May 9th issue of Washington Track Weekly.

Zach Baggett won the 100 and the long jump for Cascade.
