This blog isn’t intended to help you make money, although I’ll certainly do that if I can.
So I enjoyed this email from a reader who had seen my comments about how some women have been using grizzly hackle hair extensions as a fashion accessory, making grizzly saddles harder to find at fly shops:
“I thought as both a fisherman and business writer you would find my experience interesting.
After reading your article about the hackles, I realized I had a grizzly saddle I had bought several years ago at one of the outdoor shows (( I think it was at Quest Field Events Center).
I don’t remember how much I paid for it, but I’m thinking not more than 20 or 30 bucks.
Since I want a new halibut reel, I decided to throw it on ebay to see what would happen.
I listed it with a starting bid of 46.50, and a buy it now price of 265.00.
By the time I had gotten out of the listing and gotten back into ebay to look at the listing, it had sold for the buy it now price.”
I did enjoy that note. And it made me think that if you have some saddles sitting around that you’re not using, you might try to do the same thing.
I’ve been wondering, by the way, how this all got started and somebody mentioned Steven Tyler of Aerosmith as a likely culprit.
That’s a scary thought, but I know he likes to put feathers in his hair, so maybe he did popularize the craze.
And I used to like Aerosmith.
