MOUNT VERNON – Jackson rose from third place to first on the strength of an 878-pin last game Tuesday in the Northwest District girls bowling tournament at Riverside Lanes.
The Timberwolves finished with 2,486 pins.
Everett began the event with a tournament-high 924 game and went on to claim second place with 2,465 pins.
Western Conference champion Cascade finished two pins back in third followed by Mount Vernon (2,116), Anacortes (2,205), Ferndale (1,963) and King’s West (1,800).
Jackson and Everett advance to the state meet Friday and Saturday at Leilani Lanes in Seattle.
Kristina Alavarez, Leann Reiter, Rachel Koenig, Jennifer Whetzel and Aundrayah Coppinger combined on Jackson’s tournament-winning final game. Sarah Brent and Michelle Carlson also competed for the Timberwolves.
Rachel Robinson, Aquila Evans, Sarah Gogarty, Cassandra Berry and Jennifer Michel propeled Everett to state.
Cascade’s Markeeta Munger rolled the tournament’s high game at 226. She shared the high series of 556 with Everett’s Michel.
Alvarez had a 180 game and a 504 series. Reiter had a 186 game and a 518 series. Koenig had a 198 game and a 509 series. Robinson had a 203 game and a 544 series. Michel had a 217 game. Cascade’s Tiffany Triechmann rolled a 190 game and a 532 series.
