Community roundup: Everett grad honored by Big Sky Conference

Beach volleyball clinic and charity lacrosse game set for Snohomish County.

Sidney Rielly is in the midst of an impressive senior season with the Portland State University women’s basketball team, and last week she was recognized for her efforts as she was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10.

Rielly, a graduate of Everett High School, scored a team-high 22 points in the Vikings’ 85-66 victory over defending conference champion Northern Colorado on Feb. 9, which was largest margin of victory over the Bears in a conference game since 2013. She added 19 points in a 74-58 victory over Sacramento State on Feb. 7.

Rielly averaged 15.4 points per game through Portland State’s first 21 games, leading the Vikings in scoring. Portland State was 17-4 through those first 21 contests.

Beach volleyball medalist holding clinic in Mukilteo

April Ross, a two-time Olympic medalist in beach volleyball, will be holding a skills clinic and fundraising dinner on March 16 at Uprising Sports in Mukilteo. Ross will be holding two-hour small-group sessions with Junior Intermediate, Junior Advanced and Adult groups. The cost is $129. Registration can be done on the Uprising Volleyball website. 24-hour lacrosse event coming to Everett

Shootout for Soldiers, a 24-hour lacrosse event used as a fundraiser for wounded American veterans, is coming to Everett’s Kasch Park on Aug. 17-18. The event, which is being hosted by the Everett Lacrosse Club and Woodinville Lacrosse Club, is one of 12 Shootout for Soldiers events nationwide in 2019.
