Everett CC runner sets record
Emmanuel Contreras, a freshman at Everett Community College, set the school record in the men’s 800-meter race Saturday at the Ken Shannon Invite at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Contreras, from Yakima, finished in a time of 1 minute, 52.99 seconds to win his section. He bettered the old record of 1:53.20 set in 1976 by Doug Dalum.
Among other notable performances Saturday, Everett freshman Seth Pierson posted a time of 3:56.40 in finishing second in his section in the 1,500. His time is the fastest by a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges runner this season. Pierson is from Cashmere. Larson is from Lake Stevens.
