Kyle Cornett of Mill Creek failed to advance to the match-play portion of the United States Amateur golf tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 2-over-par 72 on the second day of stroke play for a two-day total of 6-over 146.
The U.S. Amateur is being contested on the North and South courses at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.
Cornett, a 2013 graduate of Jackson High School and a junior-to-be on the Seattle University golf team, was tied for 127th place when the second-round play was suspended due to darkness. Only the top 64 golfers — the projected cut was 143 — move on to match play, which begins today and continues through Sunday.
