Well, the final weekend of the regular season has arrived. I can hardly believe it myself, it seems like just yesterday when I made the crazy decision to try and real-time blog the first day of rookie training camp.
And unlike the previous two seasons, Everett’s games on the final weekend actually mean something. The Tips can sill finish anywhere from fourth to sixth in the Western Conference standings, and they could face any of Seattle, Spokane, Tri-City and Kelowna (longshot) in the first round. The only thing that can be said definitively is that if Everett wins all three of its games this weekend the Tips will finish fourth, and if Everett loses all three the Tips will finish sixth. Anything else and it becomes a numbers crunch.
Anyway, here’s the final schedules for the three-way battle for fourth:
Seattle (85 points)
Fri. at Everett
Sat. PORTLAND
Sun. EVERETT
Kelowna (82 points)
Fri. at Tri-City
Sat. PRINCE GEORGE
Everett (81 points)
Fri. SEATTLE
Sat. at Chilliwack
Sun. at Seattle
Everett is just about back to full strength. Defenseman Chris de la Lande is ready to return from his leg injury, and winger Kyle Beach was his usual self in practice today, with the exception of wearing a full face shield to protect his fractured orbital. It’s also still possible defenseman Taylor Ellington will see some action sometime this weekend as he recovers from his broken foot.
So enjoy the weekend. It should be a fun one.
