Trio of Tips selected on Day 2 of 2018 NHL draft

Everett Silvertips Connor Dewar, Riley Sutter and Wyatte Wylie were each selected in the 2018 NHL draft in Dallas Saturday morning. It was the first time three Tips had been selected in the same draft since 2010.

Dewar and Sutter are dynamic linemates who will serve as captain and alternate captain for next year’s Everett Silvertips.

Fittingly, the duo went back-to-back at the end of the third round of the 2018 NHL draft Saturday morning in Dallas. Dewar, who was passed over a year ago, went No. 92 to the Minnesota Wild. Sutter was immediately taken at No. 93 by the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.

Wylie, a defenseman, was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fifth round at No. 127 overall. His selection is a big moment for Snohomish County hockey as the Everett-born Wylie is the first former Everett Youth Hockey player to be drafted by and play for the Silvertips.

Dewar was Everett’s leading goal-scorer with 38 goals and 68 points during the regular season. The native of The Pas, Manitoba, added 12 goals and 14 assists in 22 playoff games as the Tips reached the WHL championship series.

Sutter had 25 goals and 28 assists during the regular season. The Calgary native added nine goals and 10 assists in 21 playoff games. Riley became the 12th Sutter drafted into the NHL across two generations.

Wylie had six goals and 25 assists during the regular season, and added two goals and six assists in the postseason.
