My daughter called a few minutes ago as she walked past Safeco Field to attend the Sounders’ game at Qwest Field. “What’s going on at Safeco Field?” she asked. “There are people camping there.”
Two things came to mind:
First, a Ron White comedy routine. The one when he talked about a friend who spent five days camping. “I wouldn’t camp out for five days if I was camping,” White said.
Second, the Mariners. Single-game ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and I’d heard earlier today that people already had pitched tents next to the ballpark and begun the two-day wait.
Wonderful person that she is, my daughter shot this photo of a couple of Mariner die-hards who say they’re from Aberdeen and Richland. My guess is that the Adrian Beltre photo behind them will change between now and the home opener on April 12.
