University of Washington forward Kevin Forrest was one of four players selected by the Colorado Rapids in the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft, the team announced Thursday. Forrest was the third overall selection and the first by Colorado.
A graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, Forrest was the second Washington player to be drafted this year, joining teammate Ely Allen, who was a second-round pick of the L.A. Galaxy in last week¹s MLS Super Draft.
Forrest, the 14th player in UW history to be drafted by MLS, was the 2006 Pac-10 Player of the Year, a 2007 preseason All-American and preseason candidate for the 2007 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy before suffering a season-ending injury in mid-October. Prior to the injury, he had established himself as one of the top goal-scorers in the nation. Forrest finished his career with 34 goals and 75 points, ranking eighth on UW¹s all-time list for goals scored. He scored a career-high 16 goals in 2006.
