VANCOUVER — Still regrouping from some of their best offensive players moving up the minor league ladder, the Everett AquaSox got the pitching performance they needed on Tuesday.
Taylor Dollard and Nico Tellache each pitched four strong innings and Stefan Taeth pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his fifth save.
Everett (40-36 overall) won for the third time in 10 tries in the second half standings after losing sluggers Lazaro Montes and Michael Arroyo to Double-A promotions.
Dollard needed just 35 pitches to get through four innings in the game at Nat Bailey Stadium. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed one hit, no walks and struck out one batter.
Tellache (3-1) picked up the win, allowing Vancouver’s lone run on an Eddie Micheletti Jr. sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. The lefty gave up four hits, a walk and hit one batter. He struck out three Canadians (3-6, 40-35) during his 57-pitch outing.
The AquaSox registered 10 hits against Vancouver, including six yielded by starter Jackson Wentworth (1-4).
Brandon Eike, batting ninth in the order, drove in the game’s first run with a solo home run to center field. The 23-year-old first baseman gave the Frogs their second run with a line-drive stroke to center field to drive in Anthony Donofrio. Eike went 3-for-3 as the AquaSox opened the six-game series, which features three games in Vancouver and a weekend July 4-6 set at Funko Field in Everett.
