The Everett Rowing Association’s men’s four placed second in its semifinal heat to earn a spot in today’s championship final at the USRowing Youth National Championships in Oakridge. Tenn.
The Everett boat — consisting of David Shur (Jackson High School), Eric Engel (Snohomish), Griffin Siadek (Lake Stevens), Beau Skalley (Archbishop Murphy) and coxswain Amber Cary (Archbishop Murphy) — placed second to a crew from the Pacific Rowing Club of San Francisco in the first of two Saturday afternoon semis at Melton Lake.
Pacific had a time of 6:55.70 and Everett crossed in 7:01.35.
Everett, which had the fifth fastest time in the two semifinal heats, will row in this morning’s A final with the hope of a top three finish and a place on the medals podium.
Also on Saturday, Everett’s women’s and men’s lightweight eights came through repechage heats and will row in today’s consolation finals. The women will compete in the B final while the men will row in the C final.
