Everett-based Garlic Jim’s loves overtime

Call it a Garlic Jim’s Game.

The local pizza chain announced on Wednesday that it will award any local prep football team that wins in triple overtime with free pizzas at their next home game.

“We can’t think of a better way to kick into high gear the fall sports season and cheer on local prep athletes,” said Dwayne Northrop, president and CEO of Garlic Jim’s. “Garlic Jim’s Triple Smackdown pepperoni pizza giveaway will award our area student athletes who win on the field in a miraculous manner. We’re excited for the opportunity to honor a high school area football team for its accomplishments and hard work.”

So far this season no Wesco or Cascade Conference teams have played in a triple overtime game.

Here’s the press release:

Garlic Jim’s to Award High School Football Teams Victorious in Triple Overtime Pizza for Next Home Game

Triple Pepperoni Smackdown Pizza Giveaway in Seattle Area to Recognize Triple Overtime Football Feat

Everett, Wash. — Are you ready for some triple overtime football? Garlic Jim’s is. The Pacific Northwest gourmet pizza company plans to give away its limited time Triple Pepperoni Smackdown pizzas to any high school in the Seattle area whose football team wins in triple overtime.

While rare, triple overtime high school football games are known to happen every year. Two Texas teams made history in 2010 when they played 12 overtime sessions to decide a game. It happened last year in the state playoffs when Seattle’s O’Dea beat Olympia-based Capital 19 to 16 in triple overtime.

“Fans of football love overtime — it’s when games really come down to crunch time,” Northrop said. “We’re cheering for a local team to make us give them free pizza!”

It’s quite easy: Any high school football team in and around Seattle that prevails in a triple overtime game receives complimentary pizza at their next home game. And not just any ordinary pizza — the high school will receive servings of the Triple Pepperoni Smackdown, which combines three layers of oozy cheese and three distinct pepperonis, including a diced pepperoni on the top that cooks up crispy-crunchy and puts the exclamation point on the Smackdown pizza.

With original taste combinations certain to satisfy pizza fans of all ages — i.e. Jim’s Garlic Chicken and the Spinach Artichoke Pie — Garlic Jim’s has become a truly distinctive culinary experience. And, while Garlic Jim’s lives up to its promise to offer great pizza, made from fresh ingredients, without making its customers choose between quality and service, the variety of menu items it gives its customers makes it an option to turn to for lunch or dinner several times a week.
