The winners are still the winners, but a scoring change has affected almost everyone else in two divisions of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series after the season opener on April 12 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.
The finishing order for the top-tier super stock and the second-tier bomber divisions were changed when the official results were sent out by press release on Friday.
“After lengthy discussions with NASCAR scoring officials and track officials, the following results have been issued,” said speedway promoter Lex Johnson in the press release. “In regards to the Super Stock event, discussions were necessary due to an incorrect line-up at the time of the final green flag restart of the main event.”
The first and second place finishers in the super stock main, Naima Lang and John Zaretzke respectively, were unchanged. Third place in the official results is Chris Preston, with Steve Ptacek fourth, Brian Cottrell fifth and Jill Lang sixth.
Tom Hughes, who was unofficially credited with third place immediately after the race, is listed in seventh position, with Mike Holden eighth, Tommy Rasmussen ninth and Scott LaCross 10th.
Rasmussen, Holden and LaCross had been credited with unofficial finishes in the fifth, sixth and seventh spots.
Daniel Moore retained the 11th-place position. Darrin Hall and Scott Mann switched positions in the official list, with Mann assuming 12th-place and Hall 13th.
Positions 14 through 18 were unchanged.
No official reason was given for the change to the bomber results. As with the super stocks, the top and bottom of the finish order was unchanged.
The first revision occurred with sixth place, which was officially awarded to Jim Foti. Foti had been 13th in the unofficial results.
Lane Sundholm and Darrel Lutovsky dropped one spot each, to seventh and eighth, and Casey Branch moved up to ninth from 14th.
Shawn Carlson dropped two spots to 10th, Mike McCutcheon moved up four places to 11th, and Rich Brown, David Stewart Jr., Kim Wilkinson and Nikki Bristol each dropped three spots to finish 12th through 15th.
Positions 16 through 20 were unchanged.
The press release stated that drivers desiring clarification of the results were welcome to contact Johnson at the speedway office or by email to conceptlex@hotmail.com.
