HARTFORD, Conn. — Former University of Washington center Jessica McCormack says she’s transfering to the University of Connecticut.
The 6-foot-5 freshman, who is currently playing for the New Zealand national team, told the Hartford Courant that she accepted a scholarship offer from UConn and is excited about her future with the team.
Connecticut officials say they can’t comment until McCormack enrolls at the school.
McCormack appeared in 19 games for Washington last season, averaging just under 8 points and just over 4 rebounds per game. She left the team near the end of the season and announced she would be transferring.
Under NCAA transfer rules, McCormack must sit out the 2008-09 season.
