Group play came to an end today for all but the main blue group at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.
Canada, the United States and England remained 1-2-3 in the blue group with two games to go, while Sweden dropped a close 9-6 loss to the Czech Republic to finish second in the red group.
Stealth forward Lewis Ratcliff scored three goals and an assist to help host England to a 13-12 come-from-behind overtime win over Japan.
Paul Rabil scored three goals and two assists as team USA trounced Germany 22-4 in its third group play match.
Washington forward Rhys Duch scored one goal as Canada maintained its lead in the blue group with a 19-5 win over Australia.
Team Sweden dropped a close battle with the Czech Republic. Sten Jernudd, a Seattle resident and Cornell University signee scored one goal and Issaquah H.S. senior-to-be Kevin Powers added another goal as the Swedes couldn’t overcome three-straigh Czech goals in the final quarter. Sweden finished second in the red group.

In blue group play Monday, the US takes on England, while Canada faces Germany.
In tournament play, Sweden (red group No. 2) plays Ireland (orange group No. 1) with the winner taking on the winner of the Czech Republic and Scotland on Tuesday. The loser faces the loser of the Czech/Scotland tilt on Tuesday.
