If the rap fits …
Eminem, the million-selling rapper, doesn’t appear to be much of a fan of or have much sympathy for Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.
In his latest song, “Despicable,” Eminem refers to the troubled Steelers quarterback in explicit lyrics and with the lines:
“I’d rather turn this club into a bar room brawl. Get as rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall.”
A 20-year-old college student accused Roethlisberger of sexual assault following a March 3 incident in a Milledgeville, Ga., nightclub. Roethlisberger doesn’t face charges, but he was suspended for six games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
While Eminem is releasing a new album called “Recovery,” the song referencing Roethlisberger will not be included. However, if anyone’s interested, the song has been posted at a website co-founded by Eminem’s manager.
Putting the jerk in beef jerky: Besides earning him a spot on the bench and a place in Eminem’s song, Roethlisberger’s recent behavior also has cost him an endorsement deal with a Pittsburgh company that markets food products. PLB Sports no longer will sell “Big Ben’s Beef Jerky.”
Maybe they should keep selling it and just add the slogan “Big Ben puts the jerk in beef jerky.”
PARTING SHOT
“It’s questionable for the next game.”
— DeJuan Blair
The San Antonio Spurs rookie, joking about his car after his team eliminated the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night in the NBA playoffs. On his way to the game, Blair ran his car off the interstate, hit a guard rail and swerved into a ditch, deploying the air bag. He wasn’t injured, and a Spurs staffer picked him up and took him to the arena. Blair scored four points in the game.
