First-half defense helps Snohomish win

SNOHOMISH – Defense was the name of the game Friday.

The Snohomish girls basketball team held Arlington to five points in the first half of a 47-30 Wesco North victory.

“We played very good defense in the first half.” Snohomish coach Ken Roberts said.

The Panthers’ Kristen Moore scored 10 of her 12 points in the first two periods.

The Panthers’ zone defense produced 21 steals and limited Arlington’s leading scorer, Randi Richardson, to nine points. The Eagles’ defense caused 20 turnovers.

“They are a very scrappy team,” Roberts said of Arlington. “They are quick to the ball.”

Daesha Henderson and Sydney Benson added 11 points each for the Panthers.

Snohomish received good news as Kelsey Manning returned from her ankle injury.
