First injury report of the week, plus notes from Pete Carroll’s press conference

First, here’s the week’s first Seahawks injury report in advance of Sunday night’s game at Green Bay:

Out: LB Mike Morgan (hamstring).

Did not participate in practice: RB Marshawn Lynch (non injury).

Limited in practice: FB Will Tukuafu (foot), LB Bobby Wagner (ankle), DE Michael Bennett (ankle).

Morgan, who missed last Sunday’s game, is listed as out through Friday, so the assumption is he won’t play Sunday at Green Bay. Wagner and Bennett are the key newcomers to the injury list. In addition, CB Tharold Simon (toe), who also sat out last Sunday, is not listed, but coach Pete Carroll said Simon wouldn’t practice Wednesday. Carroll said Simon would try to give it a go Thursday.

Now for some highlights from Carroll’s Wednesday press conference:

– Carroll confirmed that holdout safety Kam Chancellor remains away from the team, and that nothing has changed in the situation. Carroll expressed his continuing disappointment that Chancellor has not rejoined the team. In comparison, Carroll praised defensive end Michael Bennett, who’s also been vocal about his displeasure with his contract, for being present and giving his all for the team, despite his contract dissatisfaction.

– Carroll said safety Dion Bailey, burned on the last-minute game-tying touchdown Sunday against the Rams, is bouncing back and receiving good support from his teammates.

– Seattle won each of the its past three games against the Packers and their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but Carroll spoke effusively about Rodgers’ abilities and said the Seahawks “survived games” against Rodgers. He also talked about how much bigger a challenge it will be playing in Green Bay (those past three wins were all in Seattle), noting the Packers were 9-0 at home last season.

– Carroll confirmed the Seahawks will go with the same starting offensive line as it used against St. Louis: LG Russel Okung, LT Justin Britt, C Drew Nowak, RG J.R. Sweezy and RT Garry Gilliam.

– There was also a lot of talk about Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman being used occasionally in the slot last Sunday against St. Louis, instead of sticking to his usual left corner spot. More on that coming in Friday’s paper.
