EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox allowed back-to-back two-run innings in the seventh and eighth and fell 4-3 to the Tri-City Dust Devils on Tuesday at Funko Field.
D’Shawn Knowles hit a two-run home run in the seventh to pull Tri-City within 3-2. Gustavo Campero’s run-scoring double evened the score in the eighth and Osmy Gregorio followed with the go-ahead single.
Gabriel Gonzalez hit a solo home run and Axel Sanchez had a two-run shot for Everett (44-41) in the first.
Campero finished with three hits for the Dust Devils (43-42).
William Suarez (1-2) earned the win with three strikeouts in two shutout innings of relief and Erik Martinez pitched the ninth for his fifth save.
AquaSox starter Reid VanScooter tossed 5.1 scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing five hits and one walk. Sam Carlson (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs in one inning.
