Monroe High School graduate Richard Harriman will make his third start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this Friday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Harriman will drive the No. 47 PWRKOOL17 Chevrolet Silverado in the Lucas Oil 150 at the 1-mile speedway in Avondale, Ariz. The race will be televised at 5 p.m. on SPEED.

Harriman will once again be driving for Fast Track Racing, which is owned by Rockingham Speedway owner Andy Hillenburg. The owner of the No. 47 is listed as David McClure.

Driving the No. 48 for Fast Track Racing, Harriman finished 27th in his both truck series starts this season, his NASCAR debut on July 24 at Indiana’s O’Reilly Raceway Park and on Sept. 19 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H.

PWRKOOL17 is an after-market alkaline water that enhances cooling system performance. Designed for both racing and everyday automotive use, PWRKOOL17 has an ultra-low PH level, less surface tension, and will not rust the inside of cooling systems. Additionally, it mixes safely with any antifreeze.

Harriman’s goal for next year is to raise enough money to be able to run about 10 or more truck series races. That’s around $350,000, according to Howard Harriman, who said he’s working on the highlight DVD and a package to hand out to potential sponsors.

Richard Harriman began racing go-karts nearly 15 years ago, earning seven titles before moving up to Street Stocks and late models at Evergreen Speedway, and then earning a sprint-car touring series title. The 21-year-old moved to North Carolina, the heart of NASCAR, in early 2008 to pursue his dream of racing at the sport’s top levels.

Originally from Maltby, Harriman currently lives in High Point, N.C., and works as a mechanic in the shop of Johnny Davis’ JD Motorsports. Harriman serves as the tire manager for the team’s three Nationwide Series cars: the 01 driven by Danny O’Quinn, the 0 driven by Mike Wallace and the 04 driven by Kertus Davis.
