Just got back from San Fran, and am seeing that Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting, per a league source, that Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a fractured rib, the result of the hit in the back he took in the second quarter of yesterday’s 23-10 loss to the 49ers.
It is not yet known how much time, if any, Hasselbeck will miss. Hopefully we’ll find out more when the Jim Mora holds his press conference later this afternoon. Hasselbeck is the second high-profile NFC quarterback to suffer a fractured rib in as many weeks. Donovan McNabb fractured a rib in the Eagles’ opener and did not play Sunday.
Hasselbeck was taken to Stanford Hospital after suffering the injury, but flew home with the team Sunday night.
And while a fractured rib is certainly not good news, the Seahawks may be feeling a bit of relief if that’s all it is given Hasselbeck’s recent history with back problems.
I’ll check in with more this afternoon
