SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras — Carlo Costly scored twice as Honduras got its first victory of the CONCACAF qualifying finals for the 2010 World Cup, a 3-1 win over Mexico.
Costly connected in the 17th minute and again in the 79th. Fellow forward Carlos Pavon had the other Honduras goal in the 44th minute off a brilliant setup by Mauricio Sabillon.
Nery Castillo converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute for Mexico, which continued to struggle away from its Azteca Stadium home.
