Hot-shooting Snohomish wins

SNOHOMISH – Mike Kingsbery scored 13 of his 15 points in the first quarter as Snohomish beat Mariner 97-49 in Western Conference 4A action Friday.

Snohomish broke out to an insurmountable 58-18 halftime lead that Mariner, which had 20 first-half turnovers, could not catch.

“I was happy with our intensity,” Snohomish coach Len Bone said. “We shot the ball well.”

Matt Holzer led Snohomish, which shot 41-for-76 from the field (54 percent), with 21 points while teammate Ryan Sommer scored 19 points and had seven assists.

Scott Grondahl led Mariner (3-3) with 17 points.

The victory sets up a showdown Tuesday between unbeatens Snohomish and Mountlake Terrace, both with 6-0 records.

  • Marysville-Pilchuck 48, Shorewood 47: Nick Harris’ only field goal of the game with 17 seconds left was the game-winner in Marysville-Pilchuck’s Wesco 4A victory. Derek Lindstrom scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Tomahawks.
