Hot tickets: Six prep events to keep an eye on this week

Six events to keep an eye on during an action-packed week of prep sports:

Boys basketball: Glacier Peak at Jackson, 7:15 p.m. Friday. Both teams enter this Wesco 4A clash at 4-0 in conference play. Glacier Peak has won its four league games by an average of 27.5 points apiece, and Jackson has outscored conference opponents by 17.3 points per contest.

Girls basketball: Jackson at Glacier Peak, 7:15 p.m. Friday. Both of these Wesco 4A title contenders are coming off holiday tournament championships. Glacier Peak won the talent-laden Top of the Peak Holiday Tournament on its home court, and Jackson claimed a title at the Cactus Jam Hoop Classic in Phoenix.

Girls basketball: Edmonds-Woodway at Snohomish, 7:15 p.m. Friday. This clash of Wesco 3A title contenders features the conference’s top two finishers from last season. Snohomish beat Edmonds-Woodway last January en route to the Wesco 3A crown, but the Warriors gained revenge in the following month’s district tournament by handing the Panthers a season-ending loss.

Boys wrestling: Panther Classic, Saturday at Snohomish H.S. The annual tournament includes five teams ranked in the top 20 of their state’s classification, according to Washington Wrestling Report: Edmonds-Woodway, Sumner, Oak Harbor, Stanwood and O’Dea.

Boys wrestling: Everett Classic, Saturday at Everett H.S. The annual tournament includes seven teams ranked in the top 20 of their state’s classification, according to Washington Wrestling Report: Edmonds-Woodway, Blaine, Sedro-Woolley, Mount Si, Steilacoom, O’Dea and Lynden.

Boys basketball: Marysville Pilchuck at Mountlake Terrace, 7:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7. This conference showdown features the only two remaining Wesco 3A teams that are unbeaten in league play. Defending Wesco 3A champion Mountlake Terrace is off to an 8-0 start. The Hawks will be tasked with slowing down University of Washington-bound RaeQuan Battle, who scored 43 points for Marysville Pilchuck in a game earlier this season.
