Hot Tickets: What to watch in high school sports for April 2-8

The Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational and a Jackson-Lake Stevens softball clash are among the highlights.

Five prep sports events to watch during the week of April 2-8:

Baseball: Cascade at Jackson, 4 p.m. Friday. This is the opener of a two-game series between Wesco 4A’s top two teams from last season. It’s a rematch of last year’s district title game, when Case Matter and Jackson pitched a combined no-hitter to beat Cascade and advance to state.

Baseball: Edmonds-Woodway vs. Mount Si, 2 p.m. Sunday at T-Mobile Park. The two teams meet for a non-league clash in the ballpark formerly known as Safeco Field. Edmonds-Woodway is no stranger to the Seattle Mariners’ home, having played there two years ago in the state semifinals.

Boys golf: Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational, 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Everett Golf and Country Club. Snohomish County’s largest annual prep golf tournament features numerous local teams. Last year’s tournament went to a five-man playoff that took five extra holes to decide.

Softball: Lake Stevens at Jackson, 4 p.m. Monday, April 8. Jackson won the 4A state title last year but shared the Wesco 4A crown with Lake Stevens, which handed the Timberwolves their only loss of the season.

Boys soccer: Jackson at Lake Stevens, 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 8. Just past the quarter mark of conference play, these are the top two teams in the Wesco 4A standings. Jackson is unbeaten through its first six matches, having outscored its opponents 20-1.
