As I mentioned earlier, this is pretty entertaining basketball, with plenty of offense to go around. Washington leads 44-39 at half thanks to 51.4 percent shooting and a 22-15 rebounding advantage. The real shocker is that the Huskies are 5 for 6 at the free throw line so far.
Jon Brockman leads Washington with 13 points and six rebounds, and Venoy Overton, starting again tonight, is having a good game. The freshman has eight points, four rebounds and three assists, and is being as aggressive attacking the basket as I can remember. He had the highlight of the first half when he rebounded his own missed three, drove into the lane and threw down a one-handed dunk.
It’s also worth mentioning that Ryan Appleby has eight points in the first half. He was shut out on Washington’s two-game trip to L.A., but made his first three shots scoring eight of Washington’s first 17 points.
Maarty Leunen has 13 points for Oregon, and hasn’t missed a shot yet. He’s three 3 for 3 from long range and 5 for 5 overall.
