In the pipeline: A check-in on Silvertips prospects

Everett is off to a great start this season and has more talented players being developed in the midget leagues.

The Everett Silvertips have six signed prospects currently playing in midget leagues. Here’s an update on those players at the Christmas break:

Danton Belluk (2001 goaltender, Eastman Selects Midget AAA/MMHL)

Belluk was called up to the Silvertips for their Eastern Conference road trip, but didn’t appear in any of the six games and was reassigned to his midget team once the Silvertips acquired Max Palaga. He’s been the primary goaltender for the Eastman Selects Midget AAA this season and is fifth in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League in save percentage.

2018-2019 stats: 24 games, 2.37 GAA, .929 save percentage

Dylan Anderson (2002 defenseman, Yale Hockey Academy Prep/CSSHL)

The Langley, British Columbia, native is enjoying a nice season, producing a point per game and leading all defensemen on his midget team with 17 points. The 16-year-old is just up the road in Langley and will join the Silvertips in the event of an injury.

2018-2019 stats: 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 17 games played

Blake Lyda (2002 goaltender, CAC Canadians Midget AAA/AMHL)

The fourth-round pick in 2017 opened the season as the Silvertips’ backup netminder, but landed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury right before he was scheduled to make his season debut. The injury prompted Everett to acquire Max Palaga as the new backup to Wolf and Lyda was reassigned to his midget team. He’s played in just two games this season.

2018-2019 stats: 2.50 GAA, .917 save percentage in two games played

Nathan Goodbrandson (2003 forward, Winnipeg Thrashers Midget AAA/MMHL)

After a prolific bantam season in 2017-2018 with 77 points in 34 games, the seventh-round pick in 2018 has followed with yet another productive season with his midget team with over a point per game with the Winnipeg Thrashers.

2018-2019 stats: 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 17 games played

Ty Gibson (2003 defenseman, South Island Royals/ BCMML)

The third-round pick by Everett in 2018 boasts 10 points in 22 games this season. Almost more impressively, Gibson has only two penalty minutes this season. He’ll play for Team British Columbia U16 at the Canada Winter Games from Feb. 15 to March 3.

2018-2018 stats: 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 22 games played

Carter Halamandaris (2003 forward, Winnipeg Wild Midget AAA/MMHL)

Everett’s fourth-round pick in 2018 is tied for fifth on his team in goals scored with nine. Halamandaris is on a terrific team, as the Winnipeg Wild lead the Manitoba Midget League with 49 points.

2018-2019 stats: 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 24 games played

Olen Zellweger (2003 defenseman, OHA Edmonton Prep/CSSHL)

Zellweger leads all defensemen on his team with 21 points. He’ll play for Team Alberta U16 at the Canada Winter Games from Feb. 15 to March 3.

2018-2019 stats: 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 24 games played
