Silvertips broadcaster and director of public relations Jon Rosen is stepping down.
Rosen, who has been the voice of the Silvertips the past four seasons, cited personal reasons as the primary force behind his decision. He described his time with the Tips as special and said it was the toughest decision of his life. However, the past four or five months he needed a new spark and a new challenge in his life.
Rosen doesn’t have a new job lined up, but he plans on remaining in the broadcasting business — he said he had a couple interviews lined up. He’ll remain with the team through July and help out with the street hockey tournament, so you’ll have an opportunity to say goodbye.
Personally, I’m going to miss Jon. It’s going to be difficult for the Tips to replace his mischievous wit, and I can’t imagine them finding someone more versed in minor-league baseball. I wish him luck with his future endeavors.
It’s now established that four seasons is the cutoff date for Everett broadcasters. Rosen’s predecessor, Keith Gerhart, also spent four seasons with the Tips. So I guess we know the Tips will be going through another broadcaster search in the summer of 2015.
