YAKIMA – Charlie Enquist scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the second half as King’s charged back to beat Grandview 37-34 in a Class 2A boys state semifinal game Friday.
The victory sends the Knights into their first Class 2A title game.
Enquist made three straight baskets to open the fourth quarter and knot the score at 32-32 with 3:23 to play. Carson Bowlin pushed King’s in front for good 25 seconds later with a pair of free throws.
WIth 4:29 to go, King’s forward Bowlin took a charge on Grandview’s A.J. Valencia that shifted the momentum of the game. At the time, the Knights trailed 32-30, but after a missed shot, Bowlin stole the ball and found Enquist for a lay-up to tie the game at 32.
“Defense always gets us started on offense, that just got us going,” Bowlin said. “I’m so excited right now, it’s incredible.
“We just had to dig down,” Bowlin said. “One of our sayings is, ‘we bring our hard hats.’ That’s what we did today, we dove on the floor and (we) took those charges.”
Lynden Christian 43, Vashon Island 37: Kyle Coston scored a game-high 18 points, including six in the final 2:09, to lift Lynden Christian.
The win sends the Lyncs (24-2) into today’s 7 p.m. championship game against King’s. LC beat King’s 46-33 in the District 1 championship a week ago.
A Coston jump shot broke a 35-35 tie with 2:09 to play and gave the Lyncs the lead for good. He hit four of his team’s final six free throws to seal the game. Greg Burgers added 12 points for the Lyncs.

Forks 35, Lakeside 32: Jordan Justus lay-up with 32 seconds gave Forks the lead for good. Justus added a pair of free throws with four seconds left to seal the victory.
Hoquiam 44, Riverside 32: Emmi Johannsson scored 13 points for Hoquiam. The Grizzlies led the entire game and improved to 22-4.
Nooksack Valley 38, Cashmere 37: Chris O’Day tapped in the game-winning shot off a missed free throw as the buzzer sounded to give Nooksack Valley a victory over Cashmere.
Hockinson 52, East Valley (Yakima) 45: Hockinson made 11 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off East Valley. East Valley got to within one, 44-43, with 1:21 to play, but Kyle Kalian sank four straight free throws to push the Hawks safely back in front.
