GRANITE FALLS – In a battle of two teams atop the Cascade Conference standings, the King’s girls basketball team earned a decisive 72-37 victory over Granite Falls Saturday at Granite Falls High School.
King’s outscored the Tigers 23-13 in the first quarter, and held them to nine points or less in each of the following three quarters.
Granite Falls head coach Mark Neuman said that his girls “played well” early on, but after the first 10-12 minutes, King’s “really took it to us.”
Neuman said that Granite Falls had a problem matching up with King’s size.
Six-foot post Bianca Rowland led King’s with 25 points and nine rebounds, followed by fellow 6-footer Sarah Strand, who had 23 points and nine rebounds. Senior forward Danielle Clauson added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Knights.
Together they accounted for 63 of King’s 72 points.
Their “big girls” made it tough, Neuman said. He went on to say that Rowland, Strand, and Clauson are “three of the best, if not the best, players in the league.”
Jacque Goss scored 11 points to lead Granite Falls, and teammate Michaela Dudder added 10 points and seven rebounds.
