Lake Stevens RB Jayden Limar commits to Notre Dame

The standout junior and four-star recruit announces he will join the Fighting Irish.

Jayden Limar is joining the Fighting Irish.

The Lake Stevens junior running back announced his commitment to Notre Dame during a ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

The four-star recruit and top running back in the West according to 247Sports had previously narrowed his choices to Arizona, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon after receiving offers from at least 19 FBS schools, including Washington and Washington State.

Limar showcased why he’s one of the nation’s top running back recruits this past season, totaling 1,918 yards from scrimmage and 24 offensive TDs while helping lead the Vikings to the 4A state championship game. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound tailback rushed for 1,549 yards and 20 TDs, averaging 7.4 yards per carry. He also had 369 yards receiving, four TD catches and a kickoff return score.

“He has a combination of speed, power and athleticism that’s very rare,” Lake Stevens coach Tom Tri told The Herald prior to last season. “… If he was a baseball player, you’d call him a five-tool (prospect). He’s got five-tool talent in football.”

Limar will return to Lake Stevens for one more season for a team that will surely be one of the favorites in Class 4A. The Vikings graduated just 12 seniors from the roster that reached the state title game this past season. The talented group includes Limar’s brother, running back Jayshon Limar, who already has an offer from Arizona after his freshman season.

But for now, Jayden Limar can celebrate committing to one of the country’s most well-known universities.

“He’s just absolutely special,” Glacier Peak coach Shane Keck told The Herald this past season.
