Latest prep baseball poll

With the district playoffs set to begin Saturday it seemed like a good idea to take one last look at the rankings. The folks over at scoreczar.com released their newest baseball polls on Tuesday and the favorites in each classification are pretty clear.

In 4A, Lake Stevens, which faces Cascade in the first round of the district tournament, remains in the top 10 at No. 7. Edmonds-Woodway (15), Jackson (18) and Marysville Pilchuck (20) are all in the top 20.

The favorite in 3A is clear: Mount Vernon has been No. 1 for much of the season and remains more than .2 points ahead of No. 2 Seattle Prep. The Bulldogs face Wesco No. 4 Shorecrest on Saturday. Meadowdale, which just clinched its first Wesco title since 1991 after winning 14 of 15 to end the season, isn’t anywhere near the top 10, ranked 32. Mountlake Terrace is the highest ranked Wesco 3A team at No. 25.

In 2A, fifth-ranked Archbishop Murphy (17-0 Cascade Conference, 19-1) and sixth-ranked Lynden are the obvious favorites in the upcoming district tournament. The two teams played earlier in the season with the Lions coming out on top 11-2. Tenth-ranked Burlington-Edison is on a collision course with Murphy in the second round.
