Several local players were honored at Saturday night’s Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State games.
Lynnwood’s Mikayla Pivec was named Co-Ms. Basketball for the season, along with Colton’s Zoe Moser. Pivec was also named one of the Most Valuable Players in the 4A vs. 3A game. The Royals senior finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the 3A squad’s 117-74 win over the team comprised of 4A stars. Snohomish’s Madeline Smith, who was named the WSGBCA 4A Player of the Year, scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Smith’s Snohomish teammate Madison Pollock also scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds for the 4A team.
Lynnwood senior Jordyn Edwards scored 13 points and had four assists in the 3A team’s victory.
In the 2A-1A game, 2A Player of the Year Uju Chibuogwu of Shorecrest led her squad with 18 points and 14 rebounds in 2A’s 87-81 loss. 1A Player of the Year Daylee Hanson, one of three King’s players to play in the contest along with Anna Parker and Kendall Adams, had seven points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the contest.
The WSGBCA also honored several local coaches for their accomplishments this season. Lynnwood head coach Everett Edwards was named Washington State Coach of the Year, while Shorecrest’s Dori Monson (2A), Arlington’s Joe Marsh (3A) and Snohomish’s Ken Roberts (4A) all took home coach of the year honors for their respective classifications.
