SEATTLE _ University of Washington quarterback Jake Locker returned to practice on a full-time basis Thursday afternoon and has been cleared to start Saturday’s game against Oregon State.
But head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the session that Locker is still hobbled by a deep thigh bruise.
“I don’t think he will be 100 percent,” Sarkisian said. “There is a pretty good sized bruise. (But) it’s nice to have him and know that you’ve got him.”
Locker was limited in practice for most of the week after suffering the injury in the early stages of last Saturday’s loss to Arizona State.
Here is the transcript of Sarkisian’s post-practice session with reporters, with questions regarding to Locker:
(How did Locker look at practice?) “I thought he moved around good today. We did some things with him running, and he responded well.”
(Any chance of him being limited Saturday?) “I wouldn’t think so, but we’ll obviously monitor it closely as the game goes on.”
(So he’s cleared to play in the game?) “Yeah, he’s fine.”
(Is that a big relief?) “I thought he would get back. I don’t think he will be 100 percent. There is a pretty good-sized bruise (on the thigh). It’s nice to have him and know that you’ve got him.”
(When did the injury occur?) “He doesn’t exactly know, and we can’t really find
it on film. I don’t know if it was a knee, a helmet or a shoulder, I’m not sure.
… Very early, first quarter.”
(What’s the exact nature of the injury?): “It’s a significant bruise that has really affected his ability to run.”
