Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was surprisingly inactive for Sunday’s game, his third game missed this season because of injury.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that he thought Lynch would be able to play, classifying the running back as “questionable with a positive bend.’”
Lynch did not practice all week with an abdominal injury suffered in practice on Nov. 12. He played last Sunday against Arizona, but penalties and a 19-0 deficit took Seattle out of its game plan and Lynch ended up with only eight carries in the loss to the Cardinals.
Lynch missed 2½ games earlier this season with a hamstring injury suffered in the second quarter of Seattle’s Week 3 victory over Chicago.
Undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls is expected to be Seattle’s primary ball carrier with Lynch out. Rawls has three starts this season and is second on the team with 395 yards rushing. Rawls ran for 169 yards in a Week 5 loss at Cincinnati.
