Jeff Kingston, director of baseball operations for the San Diego Padres since 2002, is the Mariners’ new assistant general manager. Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik announced the hiring this afternoon. Kingston replaces Lee Pelekoudas, who resigned early this month after 30 years in the Mariners’ front office.
Kingston, 32, graduated from Dickinson (Pa.) College in 1999 with a degree in economics.
“He has assisted in several capacities with San Diego and his skill set and diversity will aid this organization as we move forward,” Zduriencik said in a statement.
