Mariners release right-hander Petit

Scratch one name off the list of bullpen possibilities for the Mariners this year.

The Mariners this morning released right-handed pitcher Yusmeiro Petit. He’d pitched in three exhibition games this month, working 4 2/3 innings with a 3.86 ERA.

The Mariners claimed Petit off waivers from the Diamondbacks in November but designated him for assignment Feb. 6 when they signed Erik Bedard and outrighted him to Class AAA Tacoma on Feb. 10.
