Meadowdale boys edge division rival

LYNNWOOD – The No. 3 doubles team of Jordon McGinnis and Chris Knight put Meadowdale over the top in a 4-3 boys tennis victory over Edmonds-Woodway Friday.

The victory broke a second-place tie in the Western Conference South standings.

Meadowdale’s only loss this season was to undefeated league leader Shorewood.

“The next Shorewood match will be huge,” Meadowdale coach Mark Schneider said. “Today was huge, but that will be even bigger.”

Shorewood 6, Kamiak 1: Shorewood swept the doubles en route to its Wesco South victory.

Lake Stevens 5, Marysville-Pilchuck 2: Lake Stevens won three of the four singles and the first two doubles to wrap up the Wesco North meet. The M-P doubles team of Tim Salcedo and Jeff Ballew won a three-set marathon that included a second-set tiebreaker.

Nichole Long won the 200 and 500 freestyle races and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team for the Spartans.
