Miller’s goal helps U-12 Strikers stay unbeaten

A second-half goal by Eric Miller kept the U-12 FC Silver Lake Strikers boys soccer team with a flawless record so far this season.

The goal broke a tie and allowed Silver Lake to edge Emerald City No. 1 4-3 on Sept. 23 and raise the Strikers’ record to 3-0. Eric also scored a goal in the first half.

Brennan Wilson was the first to score for the Strikers off an assist by Erik Olsoy. Jake Mugge also scored.

  • ????Stanwood Stealers still unbeaten: The Stanwood Stealers U-16 girls soccer team remains undefeated this season after shutting out the Marysville Force 6-0 on Sunday. Jackie Stokes and Katie Bruscas each scored in twice, and Megan Boehme and Mykell Beauchamp each scored once.

  • Edmonds team wins tournament: The Edmonds Starz won the NSA 14U-B New Team Invitational tournament Sept. 23-24 at Lynnwood’s Meadowdale Playfields. The Starz, coached by Jim Johnson, defeated the Tidal Waves of Marysville 3-2 in the championship game, which went seven innings. Tiffanie Olds knocked in Sheryl Gilmore with the winning run in the top of the seventh, and Erica Cumbee pitched seven innings for the victory. The Starz were 5-0 during the two-day competition.

  • Everett Elite win invite: The Everett Elite U12-B girls fastpitch softball team won the NSA New Team Invite Tournament’s silver division championship in Lynnwood on September 23-24. A stellar performance by pitcher Kate Defenbach helped lead the Elite to its 6-5 semifinal victory over the Edmonds Starz. The Elite rallied in the last inning to defeat B.A.M. of Tacoma 4-3 in the championship game.
