A daily look at the Seattle Mariners in spring training:

The Mariners took an early 3-0 lead against the Milwaukee Brewers, then lost their fourth straight game, 14-8. Ichiro Suzuki, who played the whole game at DH, went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Willie Bloomquist hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning.

In the morning B game against the Padres, Eddie Guardado needed just seven pitches to work a perfect fourth inning. Guardado, the Mariners’ closer, hadn’t played in a game since going on the disabled list last Aug. 1 with a shoulder injury. The M’s and Padres played to a 5-5 tie in an eight-inning game.

Today in camp

The games: Mariners split-squad vs. Brewers, 12:05 p.m. (PST) at Peoria Stadium; Mariners split-squad vs. Angels, 12:05 p.m. (PST) at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

Radio: KOMO (1000 AM) will broadcast the Mariners-Brewers game.

Of note: The Mariners will split their squad for the first time in the exhibition season, leaving most of their front-line pitchers in Peoria against the Brewers.

Right-hander Aaron Sele will start against Milwaukee, followed by right-hander Shigetoshi Hasegawa, left-hander George Sherrill, right-hander Jeff Nelson and right-hander Scott Atchison.

Against Anaheim, the Mariners will pitch right-handers Ryan Franklin, Julio Mateo, Masao Kida and Rett Johnson.

On the trainer’s table

Outfielder Shin-soo Choo played the B game Monday morning but was held out of the afternoon game against the Brewers because of a sore arm.

Weather report

After a weekend of cloudy and wet weather, the skies cleared and the game-time temperature was 71 Monday. It’s supposed to improve throughout the week, with temperatures in the 80s by Thursday.

They did it

Pitcher Felix Hernandez, whose busy hair caused his cap to fly off 11 times on Saturday, showed up Monday with a shorter doo. He had planned on getting a haircut two weeks ago after several veteran teammates ribbed him about it.
